Monitoring Resources

Project Description

For several years, PNAMP has partnered with Sitka Technology Group to develop online resources to create a network of information and tools to support a variety of monitoring needs. The Monitoring Resources site is the base for this network of tools and information. It is intended as a place to integrate existing and future PNAMP web resources so they work together to provide an efficient interface for users. Monitoring Resources contains the framework that provides central user and organizational management and houses all other PNAMP applications, including Monitoring Methods, Sample Designer, Site Manager, Monitoring Explorer, Monitoring Advisor, and the Metadata Builder. This integration allows for more efficient transfer of information and less burden on users. The tools are intended to help monitoring practitioners plan and implement effective, efficient, high quality monitoring projects. They provide guidance and support for design and documentation of a monitoring project from the early design stage through implementation and generation of descriptive statistics. Using these tools allow practitioners to easily document information about their projects and programs and share it with many partners. Resource managers, funders, and policy makers benefit by getting a comprehensive view of existing and proposed monitoring projects in a region that allows them to better understand how well priorities are being met, as well as where there are gaps and overlaps in monitoring.

For more information about the tools, visit the Monitoring Resources page (www.monitoringresources.org) and investigate the applications housed there , or download Monitoring Resources Factsheet.

Project Team

The Leadership Team for this development includes the PNAMP Steering Committee as well as interested PNAMP participants. Software development is provided by Sitka Technology Group. Becca Scully (rscully@usgs.gov) is the Project Lead .

Monitoring Resources Newsletter

April 1, 2014 - 2:55pm

The managers of the Monitoring Resources website and tools (Monitoring Methods, Sample Designer, Site Manager, Monitoring Advisor, prototype Metadata Builder) agreed that it would be beneficial to provide everyone with updates about changes to the system. So, we will be periodically sending out a newsletter with updates about Monitoring Resources and associated tools, including information about new development, highlights of new or existing features, requests for feedback, and announcements. The first newsletter was distributed in March (view March newsletter). To send feedback about any Monitoring Resources tools, contact Jacque (jschei@usgs.gov) or send a support request (https://www.monitoringresources.org/Resources/Home/Support/20).
