POSITION(S): Biologist I/II Anadromous OBMEP
SALARY: $20.80 - $28.14 per hour DOE
REPORTS TO: Biologist II/Senior
LOCATION: Omak, WA

BASIC FUNCTIONS:

The successful candidate will lead a sub-basin wide PIT tag project. The primary responsibilities of this position include assessing immigration/emigration of salmonids within the Okanogan River Basin through the use of PIT tags and instream PIT tag interrogation systems. Specific duties include the collection of field data through marking fish with PIT tags, mark-recapture electrofishing, habitat surveys, spawning surveys, snorkel surveys, and other data collection activities as needed to support the Research, Monitoring and Evaluation subdivision. This position also requires office related work, including project oversight, submitting permit applications, data management, data analysis, and report writing.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (Education and Training):

For Fish and Wildlife Biologist I

A Master’s Degree in the applicable science; OR A Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university in fisheries, natural resources science, or environmental science.
Demonstrated exposure to past/current PIT tag technologies;

For Fish and Wildlife Biologist II

A Master’s Degree from a regionally accredited college or university in fisheries, natural resources science, or environmental science AND 12 months of experience at the Biologist I or equivalent level related to fish management, fish research, habitat management, or habitat research; OR A Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university in fisheries, natural resources science, or environmental science AND 36 months experience at the Biologist I or equivalent level related to fish management, fish research, habitat management, or habitat research.
At least 6 months of demonstrated experience operating and maintaining past/current PIT tag technologies;
