Sign Up to be a Volunteer Educator for Salmon Watch 2017

2017 Salmon Watch field trip season is quickly approaching!

This fall the World Salmon Council will host approximately 40 field trips on some of our region's most iconic rivers - weekdays during September, October and November.

Each field trip has four stations: salmon biology, macroinvertebrate identification, water quality testing, and riparian observation/nature awareness.

WSC needs volunteers to teach at these stations for each field trip. Teaching a station for middle and high school classes is fun and rewarding, and who doesn't love spending a day on the river? The field trips not only provide active, hands-on education, but also give kids a sense of place, an overview of Oregon's natural history, increase scientific and environmental literacy, and offer a personal experience with spawning salmon that will stay with them (and you!).

No experience is necessary to become a Volunteer Educator. Free training provides volunteers with everything they need to know about the field stations and feeling comfortable teaching kids in nature.
