Professional-Level Travel Grants available for AFS 2015 Portland Conference

Professional-Level Travel Grants Available
The Western Division of the American Fisheries Society, in conjunction with their local Chapters, is pleased to announce that they will be offering professional-level travel grants to the 2015 AFS meeting in Portland, Oregon. The meeting will be held August 16-20 at the Oregon Convention Center. The Western Division is providing one $500 grant to an awardee from each Chapter. Many of the Chapters are matching this with $500 of their own to bring the total travel award up to $1,000.

The deadline for applications is June 1 and you must apply online.

Winners will be selected by two Western Division representatives and one representative from your local Chapter. Applicants will be evaluated based on financial need and AFS involvement, with an emphasis placed on young professionals and those seeking to be more active in the Society. Travel awards are by reimbursement only and will not exceed the amount awarded. To be eligible you must be a member of AFS and a member of a Chapter within the Western Division. Your AFS membership number will be required in the application.

Successful applicants will be required to volunteer for 4 hours during the AFS2015 Meeting in Portland. You will be contacted by the AFS2015 Volunteer Committee and assigned a mutually agreed-upon task to perform at the meeting. Winners will be notified by June 15 (well before the early registration deadline of June 26). Visit the Western Division website at: www.wdafs.org to apply.
