Senior / Principal - Environmental Scientist-150280

General Purpose

Designs and conducts scientific studies and tests, interprets results, reviews and develops reports, coordinates with local, state, and federal agencies, and provides recommended action(s) and advice to management. Ensures compliance with all environmental, governmental, and regulatory requirements. Practices aquatic sciences (fisheries, hydrology, water quality, etc.) and supports other terrestrial science activities, as required.

Responsibilities of the Senior level position include the following:

Conduct environmental studies, audits, and inspections and investigate compliance issues.
Evaluate compliance issues or problems discovered during inspections to determine appropriate actions.
Design and conduct scientific studies and tests.
Prepare budgets and develop plans for assigned tasks and projects.
Develop scope of work and supervise consultants and contracts to ensure obligations, requirements, and compliance are met.
Conduct complex research and perform investigations to identify and address impacts to the environment.
Develop and manage environmental programs and ensure the highest environmental standards.
Monitor and report the status of environmental programs in conformance with regulatory and corporate requirements.
Collect, analyze and report environmental program metrics.
Provide advice on relevant scientific (e.g., environmental, fisheries, biological, and water quality) issues relating to hydropower operations and compliance and represent the Company in scientific/regulatory processes.
Develop policies, strategies and codes of practice on environmental management.
Act as the subject matter expert and provide guidance to associate and career level scientists.
Prepare natural resource permit applications, manage the permitting process through permit issuance, and ensure permit compliance during implementation.
Coordinate with other internal and external scientists, engineers, and managers to ensure that projects comply with environmental standards and permit conditions.
