The Columbia River Region (CRR) of the American Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ASPRS) is recruiting candidates for two open positions to be filled through an election that will happen in the coming months. If you are interested in either of the positions below, please contact Jacob MacDonald at jacob.macdonald8@gmail.com with a statement of interest, your membership number, and short professional bio to include on the ballot by NOVEMBER 30th. You can contact Jacob also if you want to know more about either position or want a candid description of the level of effort expected. Both open positions are filled through a regional election for a 3 year term of service. Any full or associate member of the ASPRS in good standing with the region is eligible to run for either of these elected positions.

POSITION #1-CRR NATIONAL DIRECTOR
The National Director represents the CRR in the ASPRS Board of Directors (BOD). The National Director attends all BOD meetings (usually associated with a conference), reports on CRR activities to the BOD, reports on BOD activities to the CRR, and ensures regional activities are consistent with the ASPRS bylaws. Reimbursement for approved travel expenses to National meetings can be covered by a combination of the national society and the CRR. The National Director is elected for a term of three years, and is eligible to succeed to the same office. . The National Director has full voice and full vote privileges at all CRR meetings.

POSITION #2-CRR VICE PRESIDENT/EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE TRACK
The Executive Committee Track is a three year term. The successful candidate will be elected to spend one year as the CRR Vice President, followed immediately by one year as the CRR President, followed immediately by one year as the CRR Past President. The Vice President is responsible for running Executive Committee meetings in the Presidents absence and planning and executing the three major technical/business meetings the region holds each year. The Vice President (and President/Past President) has full voice and full vote privileges at all CRR meetings.

Taking a leadership role in your professional society is a great way to network and have a voice in the direction of our science. The National Director position in particular does not come open very often.
