Oregon Chapter American Fisheries Society Annual Meeting

Event Details

Date: March 13, 2018 - 8:00am to March 16, 2018 - 4:00pm
Location: Eugene, OR

The 54th Annual Meeting of the Oregon Chapter American Fisheries Society will be held at the Hilton Convention Center in Eugene, OR March 13 – 16, 2018. Mark your calendars!

The theme of their meeting is “Fisheries Research and Management in a Changing Climate.” We typically think about climate change in a scientific context. However, socio-economic and political climates are also changing, and these can have profound effects on fisheries research and management. At the 2018 Annual Meeting, we will explore these concepts through technical workshops, targeted sessions, and of course, our legendary networking opportunities.

They will be accepting abstracts for three presentation formats: a 15 minute talk (+ 5 extra for questions), a 7 minute speed talk, and a poster session.

This year, they are excited to include a film session at Oregon AFS. There will be two categories- micro film (30-60 seconds of footage) and short film (> 60 seconds of footage). This is a great chance to highlight footage you have captured on any kind of fisheries theme! Please contact Blane Bellerud for further details: blanebellerud@gmail.com

They are also excited to offer three workshops: (1) Multimedia and Science Communication, (2) Large River and Floodplain Restoration, and (3) Advantages, Limitations, and Current Applications of Environmental DNA sampling. We have recruited top instructors for each and they are confident that you will find these workshops informative and incredibly stimulating! Please visit http://orafs.org/workshops/for more details.
