Recommendations

PNAMP strives to provide defensible recommendations about aquatic resource monitoring in the Pacific Northwest to assist regional executives and monitoring program leads. PNAMP recommendations may be related to programmatic concepts to attain coordinated monitoring or be specific protocols for monitoring activities.

By providing a forum to identify, develop, and review recommendations in a methodical and thorough fashion, recommendations are defensible and ultimately more likely to be adopted by regional monitoring practitioners. Where necessary, research is supported to develop best practices and develop “cross walks” between existing practices and new recommendations. Admittedly, this is a large task but by focusing on regional needs and working with partners who are best able to tackle certain aspects of the process, PNAMP can significantly advance its coordination goals. Each final recommendation is sent to the regional executive for each PNAMP Partner, outlining PNAMP's support for the concept and a request that executives consider it for adoption in their own organization. Below is a list of recommendations PNAMP has made to date.
