Monitoring Methods Project
Project Description
The Monitoring Methods Project is an effort to provide a web-based resource where monitoring practitioners can find a catalog of methods, protocols, and definitions for commonly used terminology. It is actually an effort to redevelop a tool created under a previous PNAMP project - Protocol Library/Protocol Manager. The redevelopment task is focusing on making the tool more comprehensive and easier to use. A first step was to combine the Protocol Library and a monitoring terminology glossary into a single site - which is now known as MonitoringMethods.org. In addition, a companion web-based Community Forum has been developed on the site to promote information exchange and collaboration between regional monitoring practitioners about methods and other topics of interest to this community. In addition, integration of the content in the tool with existing regional project tracking systems has been initiated. Additional integration will occur as we identify more systems and tools to connect with.
The tool fully functional and can be accessed here: www.monitoringmethods.org. Additional features have been identified and some are slated to be completed with our current budget, but many cannot be implemented without securing additional funding.
Project Team
This project is being lead by Jacque Schei and Cathy Kellon from the State of the Salmon Project. The developer of the tool is Sitka Technology Group. A Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation grant (through State of the Salmon Project) and Bonneville Power Administration funds have been allocated to plan and develop the tool, as well as plan and initiate integration of the information with other regional systems and tools. The Monitoring Methods Leadership Team provides guidance and feedback on development and participates via in-kind contributions.

The Monitoring Methods application is fully functioning and has seen quite a bit of use in recent months. We are still working on some organization and content clean-up tasks but we've gotten a lot of great feedback on the tool. Please visit the site and let us know what you think!
Development of Community Forum in Progress
